Short stop-motion animation. Note: This was in fact the second anime adaptation of Miyazawa's story, the first being a 19 minute silhouette animation produced by Nichiei in 1949, directed by Tanaka Yoshitsugu. The famous 1982 cel anime version produced by Oh Production, directed by Takahata Isao was the third anime adaptation.
