The story follows the personal life of a fujoshi (female boys-love otaku) Yaoi and her otaku boyfriend Chibe . Note: Opening anime bundled with the fourth volume of manga. Note 2: Tonari no 801-chan was planned as an anime by Kyoto Animation for year 2009. The television anime plans were first announced on the wraparound jacket band on the third manga volume. Then after about two weeks all references to this anime were deleted and the Japanese broadcasting station TBS has posted a notice on its webpage that acknowledges that the Tonari no 801-chan anime series has been cancelled. No reason was given for the anime cancellation.
